Certification
Please note that certification of photocopied documents is only required for claims greater than $10,000.00 or are not in Australia.
This is where an authorized person provides a statement that the copy of the document is exactly the same as the original.
Copies are typically a photocopy of an original document that is valuable and should be kept in your possession. As the government bodies do not return documents to you, it is important that you only send them certified photocopies. Certification is a community service and is not allowed to be charged for.
The certification statement must say: "I certify that I have sighted the original document and this is a true copy of it" followed by their signature, date, name, job title and registration number (if applicable).
Authorised Certifiers are Justice of the Peace, a Pharmacist, Medical Practitioner, Police Officer, Dentist, Accountant, Solicitor, Vet, Bank Officer or School Principal.
